Our chalkboards are easy to clean and use. Created for use with regular chalk and most chalk markers, these simple tips will keep your chalkboard looking good for years to come!
Most chalk markers work great and are easily cleaned off! For best results, clean the marker off within 48 hours.
When cleaning, I like to use a wet rag and dry rag. Wipe the writing with the wet rag and dry as you go. Otherwise the writing smears all over the board and is harder to clean. Take care not to get marker on the ruler frame while you're cleaning, it will stain!
Stubborn chalk markers can usually be cleaned off with a magic eraser. Avoid using metallic color chalk markers- they are similar to paint and don't erase well.
Our chalkboards come ready to use with regular chalk. For best results, please clean the chalk off within 48 hours.
Some chalkboards require "priming" where you rub chalk all over the board- please do NOT do this! The edges of the chalk can cause scratching.
To clean regular chalk just use a damp rag with water. I like to follow up with a dry rag, then once it is clean you can "buff" it with a microfiber rag if there is any residue left from the writing.
